This article explains several ways you can scan your physical documents so you can upload them to your Public House application and meet its requirements.
Note: Please follow the instructions below depending on the device you are using to scan your documents.
Note: Once you have created the PDF's, you can upload them to your Public House application from your phone or email them to yourself so you can upload them from a computer.
iPhone / iPad:
This section explains how to create a PDF of a required document using the Notes app on your iPhone / iPad.
- Prepare the Notes App:
- Open the
Notes app on your iPhone / iPad.
- Click the
icon at the bottom right to create a new note.
- Open the
- Create the PDF:
- Click the
icon at the bottom middle.
- Select the "Scan Documents" option.
- Use your iPhone's / iPad's camera to take a picture of the document. Make sure the entire document is visible and readable. You can click and drag the corner circled to adjust the border. You can also click the "Retake" option if needed.
- Click the "Keep Scan" to proceed.
- If there are additional pages, repeat the steps above. If there are not, click the "Save" button.
- Click the "Done" option at the top right.
- Click the
- Prepare the PDF for Upload:
- Click the document image until you see the
icon at the top right.
- Click the Notes' Name in the top middle and rename / save to reflect the type of document you are uploading (example: Mortgage Pre-Approval, Photo ID, 2021 State Taxes, etc.).
- Click the
icon at the top right.
- Scroll down and select the "Save to Files" option.
- Leave the default option selected and click "Save" in the top right. You will be able to browse to this location when uploading documents to your full application using your iPhone / iPad or when emailing the documents to yourself.
- Click the document image until you see the
Android or Galaxy Device:
This section explains how to create a PDF of a required document using the Drive app on your Android or Galaxy Device.
- Prepare the Drive App:
- Open the
Drive app on your device.
- Click the
icon in the bottom right to start a new document.
- Open the
- Create the PDF:
- Click the
icon or "Scan".
- Use your device's camera to take a picture of the document. Click "Ok" when you have a useable picture. Make sure the entire document is visible and readable. You can edit the picture as needed by clicking the following icons:
or "Crop": Click to adjust the scan area.
or "Refresh": Click to retake the picture.
or "Add": Click to scan an additional page.
- Click the
icon or "Save" when finished to save the PDF.
- Click the
- Prepare the PDF for Upload:
- Click the PDF's title and rename / save to reflect the type of document you are uploading (example: Mortgage Pre-Approval, Photo ID, 2021 State Taxes, etc.).
- Note the location your PDF is saved in. You will be able to browse to this location when uploading documents to your full application using your Android device or when emailing the documents to yourself.
Other Options:
- Download documents online as pdfs: Bank statements and other documents can be downloaded from your bank as pdfs and do not need to be scanned.
- Contact your local library: You can scan documents at most libraries for no charge. Contact your local library to find out if they have this service.
- Pay for scanning: You can also scan documents at stores such as Staples and UPS for a fee.
